Welcome to the Speech Motor Neuroscience Group at UW–Madison, a collaboration between the Brain, Language, and Acoustic Behavior Lab (PI: Niziolek) and the Speech Motor Action + Control Lab (PI: Parrell).
We are interested in how humans coordinate their motor systems to create speech sounds and how these systems are controlled by the brain. We study speech feedback (the sensory information we receive when we make speech movements) to help inform our understanding of the complex processes that are needed to reach our communicative goals.
Our research group is committed to building a more diverse and inclusive work environment. For an overview of our values and ongoing action items, see our statement here.
